The Postgraduate Certificate in Dental Implantology is a formal postgraduate qualification, accredited by the globally recognised regulated UK awarding body, EduQual. The qualification is aligned with the Ofsted Regulated Qualifications Network (RQF), allowing use of the letters PGCert (Dent Imp) after your name.
You have the choice of either treating your own patients with a Local Mentor (course fee - £5,500) or taking the provided patients option (Course fee - £7,450) when you will attend 5 days of clinic training (clinic locations in Stafford, Bristol and Shrewsbury) and are guaranteed to treat at least 10 provided patients
This program provides training mainly aimed at dentists with little or no previous experience in dental implantology.
The PGCert program comprises of 3 elements:
1. Online Theory Program (21st September 2020 - 28th March 2021)
2. Practical Skills Week (Monday 7th June 2021 - Friday 11th June 2021)
3. Clinical Training Week/case submissions (June 2021 onwards)
Online Theory (Terms 1 & 2) - taught as a Distance Learning program using our dedicated Canvas Online Learning Management System (LMS). The program is delivered as weekly sessions with continual tutor feedback and discussion.
Practical Skills Week (Term 3) - a 5 day skills based program held after completion of the Online Theory module, at the Moller Centre, Churchill College, University of Cambridge.
During the Practical Skills week delegates are taught all of the foundation skills required for dental implantology including:
patient assessment & treatment planning
surgical gowning & gloving
computerised treatment planning (using CBCT software)
single and multiple unit implant placement (using bone models)
flap raising (using pig heads)
suturing techniques (using mucosa models and pig heads)
basic bone augmentation techniques (using pig heads)
Clinical Training Week (provided patients option) - a 5 day clinical program where you will treat live patients (Monday to Friday) at the Dentale training centre in Stafford. Delegates will treat provided patients under supervision. Delegates are arranged into groups of three. Each delegate is guaranteed to place at least 10 implants during this week. We will contact you to arrange your own Clinical Training Week date once you have started on the course. You will have a choice of dates. This week is undertaken after completion of the Online Theory and Practical Skills modules.
After successful completion the Postgraduate Certificate in Dental Implantology is awarded
